Date:

With an aim to make international education accessible for emerging cities in India, catering to the rising demand for global opportunities both in India and abroad, Cambridge International plans to increase its footprint in India with 1000 schools and reach 500,000 learners in the next three years. Cambridge in India contributes to approximately 10% of global revenues which is expected to grow exponentially with this expansion. Rod SmithGroup Managing Director of International Education at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, recently visited the country and announced the same. Recognizing the pivotal role of teachers in shaping the future, Cambridge International targets empowering 50,000 teachers with enhanced academic resources and training over the next three years. With a growing acceptance of international curriculum in the country, Cambridge International Education is gearing up to create an ecosystem that can potentially nurture the aspirations of students and their parents.

India is a crucial market and Cambridge’s significant investments underscore the conviction and commitment to this market. Cambridge is prioritizing Early Years (EY) education in India, nurturing holistic development through programs focusing on cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. Currently implemented in 150 schools with excellent feedback, Cambridge aims to extend this initiative to 750 EY schools, expecting outstanding outcomes. This reflects our commitment to innovation in India, with ongoing success guiding future developments. With a robust presence in K-12 publishing, spanning over 3500+ schools, Cambridge has become a significant contributor to the Indian education ecosystem. Embracing dual language models, Cambridge’s approach is global in nature, emphasizing skills acquisition and effective management techniques to prepare learners for success in an interconnected world.

Speaking on the expansion, Mr. Arun Rajamani, Managing Director of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, South Asia, commented, “In India, the education sector is undergoing a shift towards internationalization. Currently, parents’ aspirations extend beyond the international market to include India as well. Therefore, students are increasingly moving to different states or major cities to pursue higher education and enrol in top universities. To address this challenge, we want to penetrate deeper into the country to make quality international education accessible to more learners. Cambridge provides flexible curriculum options at all levels to accommodate the changing requirements of the local education system, catering to learners’ needs. Additionally, we can extend our offerings to local partner schools for further expansion. We are also dedicated to providing educators with the tools and support needed for excellence in their roles, aiming for a profound and lasting impact on the teaching community.”
